This poisonous plant has a heavy, oppressive, nauseous odour and grows essentially in areas of rubbish dumps, garbage, refuse or offal (corpses). The plant contains a high concentration of the tropane alkaloids atropine, hyoscyamine and scopolamine. It induces an intoxication followed by narcosis in which its effects occur during a transition state between consciousness and sleep and was the main plant witches used to facilitate hallucinogenic communication with the supernatural. In common with other members of the Solanaceae family (eg Bell & Stram) its physical effects include dilated pupils, restlessness, and flushed skin.
The mother tincture is obtained from the whole plant.

3. Mentals & Generals

Unlike many hallucinogenic drugs Hyos disturbances are not just confined to the psyche but its influence extends also to the physical and those of the central nervous system.
Hallucination is the main area of mental affectation the nature of which varies from patient to patient. One may wallow in self reproach, another may curse and swear and yet another may talk loquaciously about subjects they know little about. They may be raving and hyperactive one moment and the next just sit on the bed like a statue. Such delusions may progress to the point of paranoia.
Loquacity, jealousy, suspicion, mania, rage and silly absurd behaviour may all be involved.
Emotions associated with unrequited love.
. Bed covers and clothing may be thrown off. Acts of exhibitionism and shamelessness. Speech may be lewd, profane, emotional and incoherent.
In mentals it is mid way between Bell (it lacks the congestive bright redness) & Stram (where it lacks the fierce maniacal rage).
Physical appearances includes sparkling eyes, a pale face, muscular twitching of eyes, toes and hands. There is a lack of muscular coordination and the patient may constantly bump into objects.

Nebel's Fluoric Constitution and affords a good example of Constitutional treatment.
It is the patient picture that is important here especially the mental & general manifestations that are the key determinants for its Constitutional use.
High potency Constitutional prescription may be used as background together with a concurrent lower potency symptomatic remedy administered according to the Law of Similars.

Tabular Materia Medica

Materia Medica (MM) is Latin for medical material. MMs are a listing of remedies together with their respective symptoms and differ from Repertories which are a listing of symptoms and illnesses.

This Tabular MM is not presented as an exhaustive comprehensive list of all that is known about a remedy. Rather the opposite. It is intended to be used only as an aid memoire to highlight the foundation upon which by further study and experience a fuller knowledge of homoeopathics can be obtained. Consider the Tabular MM as a word picture showing a black and white sketch of the remedys main essential characteristics upon which colour, shade and tone has still be painted.

Remember to rank case symptoms according to their hierarchy giving first priority to
Mentals & Generals when comparing the MM remedy picture of one remedy against another.

Further information on
The Hierarchy of Symptoms

may be had by clicking
More Button

For more information about evaluating Modalities click

Remember also that you don't need to match everything listed under a remedy to benefit from the remedy. All that is required is to find the closest remedy match for those case  symptoms which rank the highest and are the most troublesome. The easiest way to find remedy matches is by Repertorisation.

For more information on Repertorisation click
More Button

Once the main case symptoms have been captured in say 4 - 6  remedies fine tune the final remedy selection manually by refering to the MM, or clicking the Further Information tabs or looking up any other approriate reference manual.
